we love Ghent, played there in 09 with Helmet and got to explore the city. This time the venue was a bit far from the center so we did not venture out. We were a bit disappointed in the crowd response to us that night, so it's nice to hear that there were some folks who could appreciate our music.
We are spending our 4th day in Tillburg at the Roadburn Festival. Saw many friends and great bands.

The small town reminds me of a mini Amsterdam.. and it's been taken over by rockers and metal heads for the weekend. Lots of beer, weed and good vibes. Unfortunately Shrinebuilder and many of the other US bands could not make it out due to the volcanic eruption. We're not even sure if we will make it home! The tour ends in Vienna; I can think of worse places to be stuck..

Hey Meg and Antonio!
It was great to have another chat with you guys in Tilburg. I'll drop an email later this week.
Cheers and enjoy the rest of the EHG tour!

it's taken me almost a week to decompress from the tour; I'm finally able to revisit and retell the end of this harrowing and adventurous tale:
the last week of the tour was filled with 9, 10, and 11 hour drives. in a van. with 10 people. this meant we drove AFTER the shows, all night, sitting up or curled in to odd shapes, bent over. by this point, the van was FILLED with beer cans and trash and the original cat spray/mildew smell from the beginning of the tour was replaced by ciggarette stench and unwashed hair.
Paris was a highlight; we took the subway in the the center and had a few hours to run around and sight see.
every corner you turned, there were magnificent statues and architectural detail...
and one lovely morning, driving through the Swiss Alps from Italy to Karlsruhe...
tensions erupted from too much closeness, too much vodka.. something was bound to snap.
this is what you get when you cram 10 people in a van with no sleep and too much booze.
Mike and Tony made up, obviously.. and the bands lived happily ever after.
