I know that there's already a lyrics-thread, but I thought I'd start another one so anyone can post/correct any lyrics they got from the ladrón-record, cause they're not in the booklet...

I myself listend to the songs Ladrón and The Shame and tried to write down some lyrics, but for I am German it's kinda hard for me to figure them out 100% correctly... I'm particularily interested in Ladrón, cause I'm trying it on my guitar, but it would be great to have all the lyrics for the record...

LADRÓN
the men that steal and lie,

the pityless, sadistic way in which they run.

(not sure about this whole part...)

THE SHAME
as we struggle through these lines and this dishonesty,
all the shame lies in the endings of their means (?).
for the treachery and tricks of corporate policy,

is the ruin of our air, our land and sea.
and till those, who won't owe (?) of their scorn and of their greed,
(?) killed in millions...

for their need to feed the spoils of our system,

Hi, These are the lyrics for 'the Shame'. Before I write 'em, I should say I got up at 5 in the morning and wrote this song as it was originally a tag on Dance of Snakes. We were going to throw it out, but I liked the parts so much I decided to write a song around it. The lyrics were written on the spot.

The Shame

As we struggle through these lines and this dishonesty
The shame lies in the endings of their means
for the treachery and tricks of corporate policy
was the seed by which was born this ugly scene
and the price we pay to our dismay and disarray

thank you very much for posting these lyrics! I bought your ladron-album on a concert in cologne this year, and I like it more with every listen! it's very dark and intense, and I really like the production, you know the very raw, unpolished sound of the guitar etc. it's not that accessible, (I also think that's the reason why you're not famous) but it's music with soul. I'm going to watch you again in cologne in april, looking forward to it!

oh yeah, thats a weird tuning, you use it for every song or do you have different tunings? i play ladron in standard tuning, thats also possible... but i'm not fast enough for the solo and the part right before the singing starts ;)

I really like The Shame. interesting to know that it nearly was pulled off the album, cause the song's got that kinda apocalyptic, dystopian atmosphere and I think it's one of the best songs on the album! if you have time, could you also post the lyrics for These Meanings?

Thanks for the kind words on Ladron. I like the production on it. I know it's not the norm, but I really hate a lot of the modern methods of production. I'm not into over compressed records with a mix that has everything in the middle. Why we're not famous is of no consequence to me. I make music because It makes me happy. I could give a shit about fame. It would be nice to have money from my art, but only because that would give me more time to make it and have to spend less time working for someone else. Catch 22 I guess. Here's the lyrics to These Meanings. I wrote this song long before I started writing Ladron. It was a coincidence that the lyrics had a wolf image in it, as most songs on the record do. Ladron, is a wolf in spanish, also a thief. Enjoy.

Sorry, we had to cancel the Cologne show. It would have cost us too much money to do it as we're sharing a van with EHG. Sorry. We have other Germany shows, hopefully you can make one and show me what you've learned on the guitar. Tony

concerning the production of ladron I totally agree with you. when I loaded the songs in audacity in order to listen to parts many times to learn the song, I also noticed that the album is not compressed, which is rare in these times... I cannot understand the loudness war thats going on these days. I think it's a shame that music is willingly distorted/clipped/... in order to give the sound more punch. the consequence is, that the dynamic range gets totally lost, so you have to listen to a "wall" of sound, pushing itself in your head. but many albums I like are clipped like hell (take queens of the stone age's songs for the deaf, for example), and you just have to accept it...

thanks for the lyrics, but you missed the end of The Shame. you know, the part with "we are lost". as you can read above, there's a line i simply can't understand... :) I knew that ladron meant "thief" in spanish, but I didn't know that it also means "wolf". very cool, considering the theme of the album!

oh, that's a pity that you had to cancel the concert in cologne! I live near cologne so this was the best opportunity to go to a concert of you. but I can understand that you have very little money when touring in europe. a lot of bands I like can't even afford to travel here... must be kinda hard for you to experience that all the time it comes down to money and not music, so there are many things beyond one's control. I looked up your other tour dates, and sadly there's no venue I could go to, it's all too far away for me. but maybe you shall one day return to cologne when I'm better on the guitar ;)

I got another question. I wanted to buy your Tour EP and Milagrosa on the cancelled concert, and as I see that the EP is nowhere available than on concerts, maybe could you send me one? I could pay via paypal...

The tour cd is available in Itunes. We put it up just recently. Milagrosa is also available there, it would be easier and quicker with itunes than sending it. I think at the end of the Shame I sang "We are lost we are lost a heart without a soul we are lost, They are gone, they are gone, gone but not forgotten they are gone." I sang it on the cuff, improvised it, so it's not written down. We seem to be going more and more overseas. We like touring in the EU a lot. Hopefully we make it back to Cologne soon, and then you can play some gitfiddle for me! Rock on. Tony
